Pool Pump Energy Cost Calculator
Estimate daily and monthly pump cost from watts or a rough horsepower/service-factor proxy.
Pump schedule
Enter a current schedule first. Fill the optional alternate schedule to compare a second speed or runtime. The horsepower path is only a proxy for load, not a measured watt reading.
Alternate schedule or speed - optional
Waiting on inputs
Fill the required fields to calculate an estimate. Runtime is the main lever; if you use the horsepower path, service factor is only a rough proxy for load.
Assumptions and limits
- Watts are treated as electrical draw. If your meter reading or nameplate input differs, the estimate will differ.
- Horsepower and service factor are a rough proxy only. They do not capture actual motor efficiency, head pressure, plumbing losses, or control settings.
- The calculator applies one electricity rate across the full run schedule. It does not model tiered rates, demand charges, time of use pricing, or taxes.
- The alternate comparison is a simple estimate. It does not promise utility bill savings.
Formula
Load watts = direct watts, or horsepower × service factor × 746. Daily kWh = watts ÷ 1000 × hours per day. Monthly kWh = daily kWh × days per month. Cost = kWh × electricity rate.
